Sky's the limit, apparently. ReleaseSky's limit is a pop-up. Here's today's football from the real Sky and the rest of the lot who've got a licence.

What the labels mean
- Operating via mirrors. Search results and scans show .xyz, .live and .com.ng versions, and no way to tell which is the original.
- Unlicensed. No licence turned up for any of the football, F1 or boxing it advertises.
- No accountable operator. No name, company or contact turned up, and the scan we read found none on the page.
- Rogue ads. Likely. One scan describes a pop-up-heavy way in, and free-streaming sites often carry scams and malware.
- Legal action: None found. Nothing in our search shows a UK court case or seizure. Not finding one doesn't mean none exists.
- Sky sound-alike. The name borrows Sky's, and nothing we found links the site to the broadcaster.
- Reading the scale. A low score means steer clear. At the 100 end sit the licensed broadcasters, Sky Sports among them.

The next nine days of football, and the channels that have it
Ten minutes to kick-off, you type release sky, and what you get is a pop-up, then another pop-up, then another. Get out of it. Is ReleaseSky down, or has your broadband blocked it? We can't see inside its servers. What we can see is a site billed in search as football, F1 and boxing, turning up at three or more addresses, with no named operator and no licence. Skip the faff. The next nine days of football are on this page, with the channels that have paid for them.
Searched sky release, Tenor Sky or Slap Sky instead? Same itch, different spelling. After more than football? Our F1 on TV and boxing on TV pages carry the rest.
The gist: ReleaseSky is a football, F1 and boxing site that turns up at .xyz, .live and .com.ng addresses, and we can't tell who runs which. We found no licence and no UK court order naming it. ReleaseSky's team sheet
- Debut: No announcement, no paperwork. The oldest date we can verify is a 2022 registration for the .live address.
- The squad: Football, F1 and boxing on the team sheet, according to search. Not one of them registered with a licence that we could find.
- Transfer list: .xyz, .live and .com.ng all turn up. Same shirt, three clubs, and nobody will say which one's the real one.
- Sponsors: One security scan flags a pop-up-heavy way in. More adverts than shirt.
- Agent: No name, no company, no contact we could find. Nobody to ring about the pop-ups.
Behind the name: what ReleaseSky is
Search results present ReleaseSky as a football, F1 and boxing site, with versions at .xyz, .live and .com.ng, plus an X account and a YouTube channel under similar names. We can't show who runs any of them, or that the accounts belong to whoever runs the websites.
What we haven't found is a licence, a company name or a contact. The security scan of the .live address found no email, phone number or postal address on the page either. Sky is in the name, but nothing we found links the site to Sky, the broadcaster that really does show 215 live Premier League games a season.
Sounding like a broadcaster gets you found by fans searching for the broadcaster. Cheeky, that.
Release Sky, Sky Release, Tenor Sky, Slap Sky: who's who
People look for the site as ReleaseSky, Release Sky, Sky Release and releasesky.xyz, and under typos such as realeasesky and releasesku. Two other names ride along: Tenor Sky and SlapSky. We can't tell you whether either shares an operator with ReleaseSky. A SlapSky page in the search results does bill itself as football, boxing and F1, the same line-up as ReleaseSky's, but a matching menu isn't proof of anything.
Typing alternative after the name won't help. A site pitched as a ReleaseSky alternative has the same missing licence.
ReleaseSky: the paper trail
A security scan gives that registration date for the .live address. It is the oldest date we could verify. The other addresses may be older.
Reports in late July 2023 said the UK High Court had ordered internet providers to block the sources of illegal streams of Sky's sport. The reports we read do not name ReleaseSky.
Similarweb estimates about 261,000 visits to the .xyz address over three months, up 36.5 per cent on the month before, with 83 per cent of desktop visits from the UK. Estimates only.
MalwareTips scanned the .live address: no malware flags from 92 engines, but a moderate risk score of 62 out of 100 and a note about a pop-up-heavy way in.
Our search turned up no UK court case or seizure involving ReleaseSky, and nothing that shows a broadcasting licence.
"Clean" on a virus scan isn't "licensed"
One security scan of the .live address, saved on 1 October 2026, found no malware flags from 92 antivirus engines. It still scored the site 62 out of 100 for risk, with a note about a pop-up-heavy way in, and it quotes a forum post saying you close a pop-up or two and the game appears.
Both can be true. A virus scanner asks whether a page is hostile. It doesn't ask whether the stream is licensed, and we found no sign that ReleaseSky's is. Pop-ups also come from ad networks, so what loads today can differ from what loads tomorrow.
Four signs to close the tab
No ReleaseSky address has earned a safety tick from us. Wherever you land, back out the moment you see:
- A pop-up sitting over the stream that won't close
- A prompt to allow notifications before the match loads
- A demand to install an app or browser extension to carry on
- A form asking for card details to verify your age
Already clicked? Take the site out of your browser's notification settings, remove anything it installed, run a scan and swap any password you entered. Card details gone? Ring your bank first.
Where the football, F1 and boxing really are
The three sports ReleaseSky is billed for all have licensed homes in the UK:
