What is PremFlix?
PremFlix (the current brand name that has been put out there but may change), will be a Netflix style OTT football streaming channel for the English Premier League who will take control of Premier League rights from Sky, TNT Sports (formerly BT Sport) and Amazon Prime Video.
When will PremFlix be available?
There are rumours that a PremFlix service will be trialled in certain overseas territories from as early as 2026.
Will PremFlix replace Sky, TNT and Amazon in the UK?
It is possible although reports suggest that this is unlikely since these broadcasters pay huge, guaranteed amounts of money for the broadcast rights - any attempt to break from traditional broadcast deals in the UK would be risky without proof of concept - the more likelihood outcome is a hybrid deal that allows both which will help bring down the cost to the punter.
Will PremFlix become a home for the so-called Top 6 elite Premier League clubs?
As viewing figures have shown over the past 10 years, most of the EPL top viewing figures tends to be around the bigger clubs Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs. There are fears that a choice of streams would lead to very little viewers paying for matches involving the other 14 clubs and so revenue would not be guaranteed. Amazon Prime Video trialled such a scenario which proved to be the case.
