Sunday 1st of December
Liverpool vs Manchester City – English Premier League (4:00pm)
Last year’s top Premier League contenders go head-to-head in their first clash of the season. With Liverpool looking on good form under new coach Arne Slot and Manchester City slowly slipping down the table following a string of uncharacteristically poor results, this could be an early season decider for the Citizens who desperately need a win to stay in the title race.
Tuesday 3rd of December
Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen – DFB Pokal, Round of 16 (7:45pm)
Regular German Pokal champions Bayern Munich dropped out last year’s competition following a surprise loss to Freiburg in the Quarter Finals. Eventual Bundesliga 2023-24 Champions Bayer Leverkusen on the other hand, breezed through the knockout rounds and claimed another trophy in one of their most accomplished seasons to date. Munich and Leverkusen meet early in the competition in what can only be described as a clash between the two strongest German clubs.
Wednesday 4th of December
Arsenal vs Manchester United – Premier League (8:15pm)
New United boss Ruben Amorin will take his side to top 4 contenders Arsenal in early December. United have looked shaky so far this season and Arsenal haven’t really hit the stride they managed in last year’s title race. A win for either side would push them up the table, providing the confidence to compete at a higher level and build some desperately needed consistency.
Saturday 7th of December
Everton vs Liverpool – Premier League (12:30pm)
The first Merseyside Derby of the season will be an opportunity for Liverpool to get revenge following their shock defeat in April. On a head-to-head record, Everton have only won twice against Liverpool since 2011 and seeing the Toffees struggle toward the bottom of the Premier League table seems to indicate that this time won’t be any different. However, if there’s one you can predict with the Merseyside derby – there will be plenty of drama along the way.
Borussia Monchengladbach vs Borussia Dortmund – Bundesliga (5:30pm)
With only several points separating Monchengladbach and Dortmund, this is expected to be a highly contested fixture in the push for the Bundesliga top 4. Historically, this fixture always provides excitement with there having being a total of 28 goals across the two team’s previous 5 meetings – an average of over 5-and-a-half goals per game. We’re hoping that this time won’t be any different!
Sunday 8th of December
West Bromwich Albion vs Sheffield United – EFL Championship (3:00pm)
A clash near the top of the EFL Championship as Sheffield visit The Hawthorns with the outcome playing a significant role in helping either club consolidate themselves in the play-off positions. Both of these teams are also still very much in the race for automatic promotion and a win against a close competitor may be enough to level the playing field with the division’s strongest in Leeds, Sunderland and Burnley.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea – Premier League (4:30pm)
Two of the divisions most unpredictable sides meet for the first time this season. Neither team is exactly known for their defending, scoring goals is where they really excel. Across their last 5 meetings, this fixture has averaged 3 goals a game and with Ange Postecoglou’s recent tactical alterations completely throwing any defensive systems out of the window, this next meeting promises to be another goal-fest.
Tuesday 10th of December
Leeds United vs Middlesbrough – EFL Championship (8:00pm)
Two of the divisions strongest sides face each other in a vital match near the top of the table. Leeds are locked into a close contest for automatic promotion with little to separate them from Sunderland and Sheffield, while Middlesbrough have multiple teams in close pursuit looking to take their spot in the play-off positions. Neither side can afford to drop points and the outcome of this match may very well have a major impact on their finishing positions.
Real Madrid vs Atalanta – UEFA Champions League, League Phase (8:00pm)
Now partway into the first season with the new champions league format, Madrid and Atalanta go head-to-head in a match that may decide whether they stay in the play-off part of the league table, or save themselves the extra fixtures by pushing into the automatic promotion spaces. Both sides are currently sitting near the top of their respective domestic leagues and their clash will show-off some of the best that the Italian Serie A and Spanish La Liga have to offer.
Wednesday 11th of December
Juventus vs Manchester City – UEFA Champions League, League Phase (8:00pm)
Another two clubs that will be fighting for the automatic promotion spots, Juventus and Manchester City have both suffered recent dips in form and will be looking to regain confidence with a win against a big-name rival. This is quite an uncommon match-up, with City and Juventus only ever facing each other a total of 6 times, with half of these being wins for the Italians and the only win for the Citizens coming in 1976.
Sunday 15th of December
Celtic vs Rangers – Scottish League Cup, Final (3:30pm)
The next Old Firm Derby will take place on the 15th of December as a part of the Scottish League Cup. Celtic took wins in 2021-22 and 2022-23, while Rangers took the cup back to Ibrox last year in 2023-24. Most games between the two Glasgow sides are close affairs with little to separate them in terms of quality, however, a recent dip in form amongst managerial discontent has Rangers trailing Celtic by more than 10 points in the Scottish Premiership – a loss here would only add fuel to the fire.
Manchester City vs Manchester United – Premier League (4:30pm)
In the midst of uncertainty for both clubs, the Manchester Derby promises to be an exciting fixture that will play a role in deciding the futures of both teams. This will be the fourth time in 2024 that these sides meet with fixtures having taken place in the FA Cup, Community Shield and Premier League and City winning two of the three against their Manchester counterparts.
Thursday 19th of December
Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United – Carabao Cup, Quarter Finals (8:00pm)
The next round of Carabao Cup fixtures will be the quarter finals and will take place on the 18th and 19th of December. The pick from this round of fixtures looks to be Spurs vs Man Utd for whom the Carabao Cup is likely the best chance of taking home silverware this season. Last year’s champions Liverpool are still in the competition and it’s likely that the victor here will come across their Premier League rivals in either the Semis, or Finals.
Saturday 21st December
Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid – Spanish La Liga (8:00pm)
Barcelona are a force to be reckoned with this season and have built a sizable point gap between themselves and second place Real Madrid in the Spanish La Liga. While they may be unable to match Barcelona’s intricate play, Atletico are a notoriously challenging side to play against and will do all in their power to make it a scrappy game. This may be the last chance to halt Barcelona’s charge before they run away with the title.
Sunday 22nd of December
Leicester City vs Wolves – Premier League (2:00pm)
The Midlands will be celebrating the lead-up to Christmas with a mid-season relegation 6-pointer. Wolves and Leicester sit dangerously close to the relegation zone having struggled to win previous games; both are in desperate need of three points that would propel them up the table and make their survival a much more likely outcome.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool – Premier League (4:30pm)
The final Premier League fixture before Christmas is the clash between Liverpool and Tottenham. The Reds will be looking to continue their impressive run of form and establish themselves as this season’s ‘team to beat’, while Spurs will attempt to work their way into the running for a European qualification spot.
