West Bromwich Albion FC (also referred to as West Brom, WBA, or the Baggies) is an English football club located in West Bromwich in the West Midlands. A founding member of the football league alongside local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa, West Brom boast an illustrious history competing for and winning both the FA Cup and English Football League (now rebranded into the Premier League) across the 19th and 20th centuries. Cup successes weren't always mirrored in league performance, however, and West Brom faced several relegations ahead of the creation of the Premier League and found themselves in the third division with the league restructuring that followed. The beginning of the 21st century was far more positive for the Baggies with the club reaffirming itself as a mainstay within the Premier League following an 8 year consecutive stint within the top division; this would not last, however, with the sale of the club in 2016 triggering a decline leading to relegation into the Championship as a part of the 2017-18 season.
