Who are Chelsea FC?
A mainstay of English football and a football club renowned across the globe, Chelsea FC are a London-based team playing the majority of their history in the top English division. Being located within the Fulham borough, Chelsea is only roughly a mile-and-a-half away from their closest local rivals Fulham FC. Regardless of their geographic proximity, the rivalry with Fulham has little animosity due to the clubs having played each other relatively infrequently over recent years; instead, Chelsea FC identify football clubs Arsenal and Tottenham as their most bitter rivals. Even though they've won the Champions League as recently as the 2021-22 season, times haven't always been easy for Chelsea FC with the club undergoing a great deal of hardship, especially in the 1970s and 80s through which a redevelopment of their stadium - Stamford Bridge, almost led to their financial ruin. The 21st century brought an end to their financial woes with consecutive billionaire owners heavily investing in the club spending hundreds of millions to close the gap between them and the other Premier League giants with whom they were competing domestically.
Chelsea FC play their home games at Stamford Bridge, a stadium with a capacity just over 40,000. With an international and domestic following, many of the Chelsea fixtures are televised with Sky Sports, TNT Sports, and Amazon Prime all owning rights to show their matches.
