The first half was the beautiful game at it's best from Liverpool despite conceding early on. Gerrard once again saved Liverpool when they needed him most, Lucas apalling, Mascherano and Torres clearly suffering and Reina was sensational.

Great game, great result for Liverpool. Awesome goal from Gerrard to equalise. For a 1st group game probably the best I've watched. Usually cagey affairs but this was very open - credit to Rafa for going at them. Could have been 4-5 either way. Rieria looked quality when introduced.

The 1st half was witness to one of the most beautiful goals of the season and possibly the worst hair cut (m'bibe was promptly subbed). Marseille impressed, liverpool held out and had strong moments throughout. Ryan babel deserves a continued spot and lucas did not inspire. Great stuff.
